MY EVERY DAY CARRY

A kind viewer of the channel generously donated an XE-1 to me as they thought it would suit my film shooter dabbling in digital story arc. He wasn’t wrong! This little beast is one of the earliest X mount models but still 100% holds its own in image quality and rendering today. The sensor in this thing is legendary for a reason and it blooms highlights in a really similar way to film.

fujifilm x-e1

I did a video demonstrating how to use this cute and super handy little flash unit. Since then it has been a permanent fixture on my XE-1 and has taught me a lot about the creative control I can get by dialing my flash setting in manually.

KEKS KF-01 MINI FLASH.

This little gem of a lens is a cheaper alternative to the Fujifilm version and in my opinion has more character in the way it renders. Sometimes modern Fujifilm lenses can be a little too perfect and err on the side of clinical. This lens is the perfect balance of sharpness in the middle with some nice character and vignette especially when used wide open.

Canon rebel g (eos 500)

This is my all time favourite, most used and go to film camera. Paired with a decent lens it is just as, or more capable than the vast majority of film cameras and it’s also one of the cheapest!

if you’re looking for something a bit more robust and advanced than the humble Rebel G then the EOS/Elan 7 is one of the most capable film cameras you can buy at an affordable price.

canon eos 7

While my history with the Nikon FA has been shorter than some of my other recommendations it is undoubtably one of the best options for the combination of modernised metering and automation mixed with manual controls.
